I was in Birmingham doing some headshots in late November and wanted to do a little exploring. Thanks to Google Maps I found I was just a short distance from Alabama Veteran’s Memorial Park. It was a beautiful fall day so I drove over and got out to explore with camera in hand.
It was just me, the park ranger, and a grounds keeper there that day. It was quiet, peaceful, and very emotive.

The atmosphere of the park provides such a wonderful opportunity to combine a family outing with an education opportunity. While preparing this blog post I see where they’ve designed a scavenger hunt to use while on your visit. (alabamaveterans.org). I hope many of you will take the time to plan a visit, pay respect to these Alabamians who gave all, and celebrate our democracy.
