When I see the word “challenge” I have some automatic switch that turns on and makes me want to join in. In May I saw a 100-day index card challenge that would start on June 1st. I couldn’t resist! I dug in my craft supplies and pulled out white and multi-colored index cards and looked at them for several days deciding what I wanted to do. Most participants would be mixed-media artists. I love to do mixed media but just couldn’t get a good feel about spending part of 100 days with it. I kept asking myself what would be the best use of my time. What is something that wouldn’t end up unused in a basket under my desk (which is already overflowing with mixed media projects). I finally realized I would love to spend 100 days printing one of my floral photographs and writing something inspirational or thought provoking on the back of each. I enjoy lettering but decided to use a simple print — something a little artistic but not time consuming.

I ditched the index cards and pulled out some Red River Palo Duro Smooth 310 4×6 art paper. That particular paper has been discontinued (thankfully, I had enough on hand to finish my project!) and they are recommending Aurora Natural 300 as a suitable alternative.

On the date of this blog post I am on Day 65 of the project so I have high hopes that I can complete it.

If you’d like to enjoy the whole project, please follow my @2nd_cup_of_coffee Instagram page. I post one video a day there. I started posting on my main Instagram page (@diannapaulk) but found that too time consuming so found a faster and easier way to post them via videos on the other account. I didn’t start posting the videos until July 14th so they are lagging behind the actual daily photos.

I hope if you follow along you’ll find a bright spot in each day and an inspirational quote that will be meaningful to you.

All sessions are on location by appointment only.
